The Book of Eli
Now this is a movie for the believers. It is not so hard to figure out, which of the books is the one from the title. Obviously it is The Book. Eli (we find out his name towards the end of the film) has had a vision in which he was instructed to take The Book west and that he would be protected along the way. It is the only remaining Book in the world. He walks the road to the west, meets the survivors of an apocalyptic war who have turned into cannibals (some of them) or they just show the very best of humanity. I am being sarcastic here; of course, we see thugs and rapists and killers. Eli walks the road and fights off all this scum as if guided by a higher power. There are some who want to destroy the book; others want to use it in their ambition to control the mob. Eli shows great skills in fighting, either with his knife or with his gun. After a series of confrontations with the bad guys he gets to the former prison of Alcatraz where a few survivors have set up a base to save the knowledge of mankind. We find out that Eli is actually blind and that he was indeed guided by a higher power. The whole story is far-fetched and only believable to the highly religious. Well played by Denzel Washington. All considered you will not miss a thing if you choose to go see something else.
Stars on my movie meter: two out of five (I have given one star less only because Eli eats a cat in the movie. I mean, I know it is famine and everything, but anyone knows that in these cases you eat rats and not cats.)

About the cat episode: not just that Eli had actually killed the poor cat, but while he was eating it, he shared his 'meal' with a rat! Preposterous!
